Apple Cake Recipe
A simple and delicious apple cake recipe that brings a comforting taste of home to seafarers onboard.
Easy to make and perfect for sharing, this cake is sure to be a favorite in any galley.
Ingredients:
- Granulated Sugar – 330 grams
- Eggs (Fresh, Medium Size) – 5 pcs
- Red Apples – 400 grams
- Vanilla Essence – 5ml
- Cinnamon (Ground) – 4 grams
- All-Purpose Flour – 360 grams
- Baking Powder – 12 grams
Description:
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until the mixture becomes light and creamy.
- Stir in the chopped apples, mixing well to ensure they’re evenly coated.
- Gently fold in the flour, cinnamon, and baking powder until fully combined and no dry pockets remain.
- Pour the batter into a greased baking tray and smooth the top.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 50 minutes to 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the
center comes out clean.
Serving Suggestions:
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream
- Dust with powdered sugar and pair with a cup of coffee or tea for an afternoon snack
- For extra flavor, drizzle with caramel sauce or a light glaze made from lemon juice and powdered sugar
Storing Guidelines:
- Let the cake cool completely before storing
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days
- For longer storage, refrigerate for up to 5 days. Bring to room temperature or lightly war before serving
- The cake can also be frozen (wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and foil) for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
